Schools, Colleges & Local Authorities — Independent Speech and Language Therapy

A young adult in conversation with a tutor in a calm, light-filled room.

Supporting young people with complex communication needs within education requires specialist input that bridges clinical expertise and the systems that shape a young person's future.

We are an independent SLT service working with older children and younger adults — typically from secondary school age through to further education — providing specialist speech and language therapy assessment and intervention within schools, colleges and local authority frameworks.

Our involvement in education settings includes direct clinical work with the young person, collaborative working with school and college teams, and specialist input into Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). We understand the weight that EHCP documentation carries — for the young person, their family and the professionals around them — and we ensure that our contributions are thorough, evidence-based and clearly written to support the right provision being put in place.

We work routinely within:

  • EHCP needs assessments, reviews and tribunal processes
  • School and college-based intervention and therapy programmes
  • Training and guidance for teaching staff, learning support assistants and SENCOs
  • Transition planning from school to further education, employment or adult services
  • Complex communication profiles, including cognitive-communication difficulties, AAC, autism, acquired brain injury and progressive conditions
  • Cases involving overlapping neurological, physical and mental health needs

Our goal is always to ensure the young person's voice is heard — both literally and within the systems that make decisions about their future.

Every young person deserves to be understood — and to have the right support in place to help them thrive.
